The Clarksville Marina District:For over two decades the Clarksville Community has talked about reconnecting with arguably one of its greatest and most underutilized assets…The Cumberland River. Thanks to the efforts of Mayor Piper, The City Council, The Marina District Committee, & J.J.R. Consultants, the talk is becoming a reality. Our family (Greg and Lisa Batts family) and staff have developed Prizer Point Marina & Resort into a premier family vacation value, and are dedicated to developing a Clarksville facility that most will find to be a source of pride worthy of the city’s motto as “Tennessee’s Top Spot.” Clarksville’s reconnection with their Riverfront will help turn downtown into a place where people not only work, but a destination where people will play, shop, eat, and live. The new Clarksville Marina District will be a mixed use facility offering everything from benches and trails for those who enjoy the serenity of people watching & greenways, to access via the Riverwalk to plays, museums, a Civil War Fort, restaurants & shops, festivals and other amenities the downtown, Fairgrounds & Marina District provides. Many may be surprised to know that the Cumberland River is part of the Intra-coastal water system. As such boats can travel here from virtually any country in the world. One can come out in Mobile Bay, AL, or the Great Lakes via the Chicago River. Clarksville Marina will afford not only the local boating enthusiast a first class place to dock their boat, but an urban destination for boaters from Nashville, Lake Barkley, Kentucky Lake, and beyond to enjoy the multitude of amenities the Marina District & city of Clarksville provide. Boaters will enjoy the clean marina’s docks which will be able to handle anything from jet skis to 120’ boats. Fuel, limited provisions & supplies will be available. Additional possibilities include rental toys & boats, and minor repairs. In the second phase of construction, a drystack storage system will enable boaters to store their boats here. We will put them in the water & put the boats away when they are through. Instead of hassling with pulling your boat, putting it in the water, pulling back, and putting away; just call, play, and leave. The River walk village will be a residential/commercial development overlooking the river walk, marina & park. The community will combine a boating & outdoor enthusiast casual lifestyle with the conveniences of being within walking distance of downtown in the nation’s ninth fastest growing city. In addition to the Marina & river walk accommodating bikes and walkers, there will be the playground, dog walk, arboretum, pavilion point, fishing pond, new fair grounds arena, amphitheater, four lane boat ramp, sports fields and more. Via river walk you will be able to access McGregor Park, Downtown, and eventually the ‘rails to trails’ program. As our nation embraces the growing need for clean, intelligence use of our resources, & Clarksville increasingly becomes a Top Spot for green technology innovation, the Riverwalk Residences, the marina, and all of the River District will strive to make this one of the area’s most green developments. Additionally our sidewalks, commercial, and public amenities will be fully accessible. Along with activities & festivals including; the North Tennessee State Fair, River & Spires, Christmas Walk, Oktoberfest, Concerts, collegian activities at Austin Peay University, and the many activities of Ft Campbell, the Marina District will celebrate and create activities that will excite the general public and boating enthusiasts.
